Privacy statement

What information do we gather?

We gather personal information in the following cases:

  • when you purchase an AQT license
    This includes the information supplied with the purchase, such as Name, Address, Email Address.
    We do not gather credit card numbers - these are not passed to us by our online reseller (Digital River / My Commerce) and are never seen by us.
  • when you access one of our websites
    The information gathered at this time includes IP Address, domain name and other statistics related to your web session.
    Our websites use Google Analytics, which may gather other information about you.
  • when you email us
    Your email may contain documents, screenshots or other accompanying material.
    Emails from us to you, including any html links included in the email, do not contain any form of tracking.
  • when you activate your license, or click on Check for Updates
    The information gathered at this time includes the AQT license information, userid and name of the machine on which you are running AQT.

How we use your personal information

We use your personal information as follows:

  • sales information is used to answer questions from you or the company you work for relating to license entitlement, including re-supply of license key information to you or your company on request if that information has been lost
  • web statistics and Google Analytics are used to gather general statistics on access to our websites, and to understand the performance of our adverts. These statistics are of a general nature and do not identify any individual
  • emails are retained to provide a history of communication between yourself and us
  • activation information is used to monitor and manage the use of licenses

When we disclose your personal information

The information we gather is not shared with any external parties, except:

  • other parties involved in the purchase of your license(s), such as resellers
  • if your AQT license was purchased for you by your company - we may disclose your information to personnel at your company who are involved in the purchase of your license, management of the licenses owned by your company or technical support of AQT, databases or related products
  • our professional advisers (lawyers, accountants, financial advisers etc.) may request generalised information about license ownership
  • regulators and government authorities in connection with our compliance procedures and obligations
  • a third party to response to requests relating to a criminal investigation or alleged or suspected illegal activity
  • a purchaser of all or part of our assets or our business is likely to acquire full license ownership information
  • a prospective purchaser, and their professional advisers in connection with the purchase, may request generalised information about license ownership
  • other recipients where we are authorised or required by law to do so

How we keep you personal information secure

We take particular efforts to ensure that your personal information is kept secure:

  • sales information plus emails are held on our private company servers in New Zealand. None of this information is held on a cloud service provider.

  • we make use of anti-virus software, firewalls and encrypted volumes to help protect our systems
  • some information is held in hard copy files that are kept in a secure location in New Zealand. Old files are destroyed in a secure manner.
  • activation information is held by a cloud service provider. All personal information is stored in an unreadable format.
  • Google Analytics data is held by Google. Google's privacy policy is given at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

How long we keep your personal information

  • we retain your personal information for as long as is necessary to provide the services to you and others, and comply with our legal obligations
  • Google Analytics data is held for 14 months (the minimum we can specify)
  • if you no longer want us to retain your personal information, you can request that we erase your personal information.
    If you request the erasure of your personal information, we may retain this information to comply with the law and assist with investigations. Your personal information will also remain on our backups for the duration of our backup retention period.

    • Once your personal information is deleted we will not be able to supply your license key information to you if you lose that, nor supply licensing information to your employer
