Manually entering the Activation Code into the Registry
When using Activate by Email or Activate by Web Page, some users have problems loading the activation code. The Paste button can sometimes give the message Activation Key is not valid or The text you are pasting is not an activation key
An alternative is to enter the activation code directly into the Windows registry. This is held in the following location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Cardett\Register
The values used by the activation codes are:
- KeyA - activation code for a Standard / Extended license
- KeyAV - activation code for a Version Upgrade license
- KeyAU - activation code for a Edition Upgrade license
To enter the activation code:
- right-click the right-panel of the Regedit window and select New > String Value. Give this the name of KeyA, KeyAV or KeyAU as above.
- double-click the KeyA value to modify it, and enter the Activation Code
- ensure that the Activation Code is free of line-breaks and other control characters that may have been added by your email system.
